Terms of Use
Last updated: August 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing ghostkit.net ("the Website"), operated by ghostkit UG, Germany, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not accept these terms, please refrain from using the Website and its services.
2. Description of Services
The Website provides:
- Browser-based utility tools (the "Toolkit") that run on your local machine, apart from three tools that are executed on our server.
- A curated directory of third-party security tools with descriptions and categorisation.
- Educational content about security techniques.
3. Informational Purpose Only
All content, tool outputs, and tool descriptions on this Website are provided for educational and informational purposes only. They do not constitute professional security advice, legal advice, or a definitive assessment of any code's or website's safety. You should not rely solely on information from this Website when making security decisions.
4. No Warranty (Gewahrleistungsausschluss)
All content, data, and services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. In particular:
- We make no guarantees regarding the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or timeliness of tool outputs, provider descriptions, or any other information provided.
- The Toolkit tools run in your browser on your local device. We do not warrant that they will function correctly in every environment, browser, or operating system. Results may vary depending on your local configuration.
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Website or its services.
- A clean deobfuscation or decoding result does not mean the input is safe. Tool outputs reflect automated processing and should be interpreted by qualified personnel.
5. Limitation of Liability (Haftungsbeschrankung)
To the extent permitted by German law:
- We are liable without limitation for damages caused by wilful misconduct (Vorsatz) or gross negligence (grobe Fahrlassigkeit).
- In cases of simple negligence (einfache Fahrlassigkeit), our liability is limited to breaches of material contractual obligations (Kardinalpflichten), and in such cases limited to foreseeable, typically occurring damages.
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, including lost profits, data loss, business interruption, or damages arising from reliance on scan results or tool outputs.
- For gratuitous services, liability is further limited pursuant to Sections 521, 599 BGB.
- The above limitations do not apply to liability for injury to life, body, or health, or to mandatory statutory liability.
6. Client-Side Tools
The Toolkit tools (e.g. entropy analyser, character inspector, URL analyser, hash generator) execute entirely within your web browser. No data you input into these tools is transmitted to our servers unless explicitly stated. We have no control over, and accept no responsibility for, the results produced by these tools on your device. You are solely responsible for how you use and interpret these results.
7. Server-Side Tools
- The DNS lookup, CSR decoder and SSH key analyzer send your input to our server for processing. The input is not stored.
- These tools are limited to 60 requests per minute per IP address. We reserve the right to adjust or restrict access to prevent abuse.
- You must not use these tools for unlawful purposes, including reconnaissance against systems you are not authorised to test, or any activity that violates applicable laws.
8. Third-Party Content and Links
Our website contains links to external third-party websites over whose content we have no influence. We hereby expressly distance ourselves from all content on linked pages and do not adopt such content as our own. At the time of linking, the linked pages were checked for possible legal violations; no illegal content was apparent at that time. A permanent content review of linked pages is not reasonable without concrete evidence of a violation and is not required under Section 7 Abs. 2 DDG. Upon becoming aware of any legal violations, we will remove such links immediately. Linking to external websites does not constitute endorsement, recommendation, or affiliation. We are not liable for the availability, accuracy, completeness, or content of external websites, nor for any damages arising from the use of such content.
9. Intellectual Property (Urheberrecht)
All original content on this Website, including text, design, code, and the ghostkit brand, is protected by copyright law (Urheberrechtsgesetz). You may not reproduce, distribute, or commercially exploit this content without our prior written consent. Tool descriptions and reviews reflect our editorial assessment and may not be reproduced without attribution.
10. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use our services for any unlawful purpose.
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits or access controls through automated means.
- Use the server-side tools in a manner intended to abuse, overload, or interfere with our infrastructure or third-party systems.
- Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Website beyond normal use.
11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). For consumers within the EU, mandatory consumer protection provisions of your country of residence apply to the extent they provide more favourable protection. The place of jurisdiction for all disputes is Germany, unless mandatory statutory provisions require otherwise.
12. Severability (Salvatorische Klausel)
Should any provision of these Terms be or become invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be replaced by a valid provision that comes closest to the economic intent of the invalid provision.
13. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Material changes will be indicated by updating the date on this page. Continued use of the Website after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
